David Malukas gave fans the best news on Monday, September 1, 2025. Just one day after being airlifted to a Nashville hospital following a violent crash at the Music City Grand Prix, the 23-year-old IndyCar driver said he is “healthy and well.

” Malukas shared the update on his official X handle, thanking the AMR and IndyCar safety teams, the doctors, and fans for all the love and support. His release from the hospital ended a tense 24 hours for the racing community.

David Malukas’ message came only hours after his frightening accident on lap 83 of Sunday’s race in Nashville, Tennessee. His No. 4 car spun after contact with rookie Louis Foster and slammed backwards into the Turn 2 wall.

The impact was so strong that he had to be airlifted from the track to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for precautionary tests.

In his update, David Malukas wrote: “I am healthy and well! Thank you all for the messages. It meant a lot to see all the support the moment I left the hospital. Gratitude to the AMR/INDYCAR safety and medical teams for their exceptional care. Better days ahead, much love - DM.”Dr. Julia Vaizer, who leads IndyCar’s medical team, had already told media on Sunday that Malukas was awake, alert, and in good spirits.

She confirmed he was sent for trauma scans only as a precaution. Louis Foster reacts to the collision with David Malukas

Louis Foster, the rookie driver involved in the lap 83 contact, said he was thankful to learn Malukas was okay. “Want to make sure he’s okay. I’ve heard that he is somewhat okay. That’s good to hear. I’ll text him after to make sure he’s okay,” Foster said.Foster also gave his view of the crash. “We were trying to stay on the lead lap. I held my line. He turned down into me. I couldn’t do a lot about it,” he explained. “Luckily I didn’t get any damage. Luckily he’s somewhat okay. Yeah, unfortunate.”While the accident ended David Malukas’ race, his release from the hospital means he will now have the offseason to fully recover. The young driver’s quick recovery update was welcomed across IndyCar as the 2025 season wrapped up in Nashville.
