Taylor Swift’s engagement to Travis Kelce has sparked plenty of speculation, but one question keeps popping up: will Blake Lively make the guest list? What was once one of Hollywood’s most admired friendships has now unraveled under the weight of legal drama, personal hurt, and very public accusations.
From godmother bond to public fallout
For years, Swift and Lively shared an enviable closeness. The pop star is godmother to Lively’s three daughters, and the actress even directed Swift’s music video for I Bet You Think About Me in 2021. Their friendship was visible at NFL games, award shows, and private family moments. But cracks began to show when Lively’s legal dispute with It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni unexpectedly pulled Swift into the courtroom narrative.
Swift, according to multiple reports, was deeply unsettled by being named in filings that suggested her presence had been leveraged to strengthen Lively’s side. A source told Page Six that Swift was “deeply wounded” and that “She will forever be furious at how Blake quite clearly was using her for clout and leverage in her dealings with Justin.”
Why Blake Lively may be missing from Taylor Swift’s big day
The fallout has been icy. Swift was subpoenaed, accused of being pressured into public support, and dragged into months of tabloid frenzy.
Even after Baldoni dropped his countersuit, the damage was lasting. As another insider put it, “Taylor has not been in touch with Blake and still does not want to discuss anything to do with the lawsuit.”Adding fuel to speculation, Lively remained silent when Swift announced her engagement. Sources told the Daily Mail, “This is something that we would’ve talked about in the past, like what was going to happen, if she was going to be in the wedding, what that would look like. All of that. But now, it’s just silence.”Also Read: “Racist white boys”: Travis Kelce accused of racial bias after choosing Taylor Swift over Kayla NicoleFor now, it appears Swift’s wedding will not feature one of her former closest friends.
