Four days after the deadline to submit the seat matrix for various professional courses ended, no department, including the Higher Education Department, has submitted it to the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA).
The seat matrix of professional courses, including engineering and others, is necessary for both the KEA and students at this stage after the Common Entrance Test (CET) results.
However, owing to the delay in submitting the seat matrix, there is a possibility that the counselling process will also be delayed this time.
“We need at least one week to upload the seat matrix after receiving the same from various departments. Unless we receive the seat matrix we cannot proceed further,” said H. Prasanna, executive director of KEA.
As per information from the KEA, the authorities have personally met officials of the Higher Education and the Medical Education departments requesting for seat matrix. “Despite repeated requests there is no response from the departments,” an official of the KEA said.
For engineering courses, the Higher Education Department has to get the seat matrix from respective colleges and submit it to the KEA. For medical, dental and nursing it is the responsibility of the Medical Education Department.
Higher Education Department officials said they are compiling the data and submitting the same to the KEA soon. However, the medical, dental and nursing seat matrix will be delayed because the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) was under a dilemma following the directions from the Governor not to involve some of the senate members in any committees, including college inspection.
