Delegation seeks probe into Kala Academy works

Panaji: A delegation of Kala Rakhan Mandd met member secretary, Kala Academy, Shankar Gaonkar, on Friday to address the corruption charges in the recent renovation works at the Kala Academy.

Members expressed concern over the poor administrative irregularities, and lack of transparency in its functioning. They stated that it "was sadly reduced to an institution plagued by neglect, and lack of engagement with the local art community."They demanded that the academy release its annual calendar of activities at the beginning of every year, ensuring timely planning and participation by Goan artists. The delegation further pointed out that the 50 years of the prestigious Konkani Drama Competition was not celebrated on the scale it deserved. They urged govt to conduct an independent inquiry into the renovation expenditures to restore public confidence and accountability.
