A judge at the Rohini courts in Delhi has been transferred after being accused of using abusive language during a heated argument with a lawyer inside his courtroom. A video of the altercation has also gone viral on social media.

The clip showed Additional Sessions Judge Rakesh Kumar arguing with a lawyer, who also happens to be the President of the Rohini Court Bar Association. The verbal exchange between the duo reportedly stemmed from the judge's refusal of a request for passover moved by the lawyer.

In the viral video, the judge can also be heard saying to the lawyer: "I know you are connected to High Court judges, but I will not back down. I dare you to do something to me."

Following lawyers' uproar over the incident, the judicial officer has now been attached to the Delhi Judicial Academy.

While his transfer order has been passed, lawyers in the Rohini courts have called for an abstention from work on Monday, May 18, to protest his alleged "misconduct and abuse."

The strike was announced after a meeting of the Coordination Committee of All District Court Bar Associations took place on Sunday, legal news outlet Bar and Bench said in a report.

A resolution calling for the judge's immediate transfer out of the Rohini courts and an enquiry into his conduct was also passed by the committee in its meeting, the report added.
