Delhi Rain: IMD has predicted light to moderate rain for Delhi, Noida and Gurugram for today, September 4. Orange and yellow alerts are also in place for different regions.

Delhi-NCR Weather: After a few hours of sunshine, dark clouds swept over Delhi and the NCR by Thursday evening, bringing showers. For the past two days, the weather in the national capital has been playing hide and seek—sunny mornings followed by rain later in the day.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted more rain in the national capital region, sounding an orange and a yellow alert.

The weather department has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad, while an orange alert is in place for Gurugram for today. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rainfall are expected during the evening and night, according to the IMD.

Yamuna Flows Above Danger Mark

The Yamuna River continues to flow above the danger mark; the rain has also disrupted the traffic movements at several places. Severe waterlogging was witnessed on Thursday morning in the Monastery Market area as the water from the overflowing Yamuna River entered parts of Delhi.

People from the nearby areas of the Yamuna River have been shifted to relief camps set up near Mayur Vihar-Phase 1.

Traffic Diversion In Place

The Delhi Traffic Police also announced traffic diversions in view of the rising water level of the Yamuna River. The traffic will be diverted at Wazirabad-Signature Bridge and Chandgi Ram Akhada-IP College red light through alternate routes, as heavy congestion is expected on the Outer Ring Road and adjoining stretches.

“Emergency vehicles will be given free passage at all times," said the advisory.
