Delhi Police has taken cognisance of a complaint filed by defence entrepreneur Sahil Luthra, who alleged receiving death threats from an international extortion network.

According to the complaint submitted on February 27 last month at the Chanakyapuri police station, Luthra received two calls on February 26 from international numbers originating in Portugal and Germany. The callers allegedly claimed responsibility for the firing that occurred at his Amritsar residence on the intervening night of November 29–30 last year and warned of further action.

In an email response, the Delhi Police Commissioner’s Office confirmed that “the matter has been transferred to the Special Cell for further investigation. Police have not disclosed operational details, citing the ongoing probe."

The callers allegedly told Luthra that he would be targeted in the future and indicated awareness of the security cover provided to him, asserting that it would not prevent an attack.

Alleged Pattern of Extortion

Investigators are examining similarities between this case and threats previously reported by actor Ranveer Singh and filmmaker Rohit Shetty.

As per the complaint, Luthra was allegedly asked to pay Rs 10 crore in August 2025. Authorities are assessing whether the demand and the method used align with other high-profile extortion cases under investigation.

The firing incident at his Amritsar residence remains under probe. In several recent cases involving public figures, shots were fired outside properties as a form of intimidation. Police are verifying whether there is any operational link.

The complaint further states that the threats were routed through VoIP calls traced to multiple countries, including Portugal, Germany, Canada, and the United States.

Background and Ongoing Probe

Luthra is the Managing Director of Vijayen Trishul Defence Solutions (VTDS), a defence manufacturing firm. According to the complaint, he has been receiving threats since October 2024, around the time the company announced expansion plans in Punjab.

The complaint also refers to alleged mentions of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) and the Goldy Brar gang. Investigating agencies have not publicly confirmed any direct organisational involvement and are examining the authenticity and origin of the claims.

In May 2025, the company reportedly faced attempted cyber intrusions targeting official email accounts and social media handles. The complaint alleged that some digital activity appeared to originate from accounts believed to be operated from Pakistan. Cybercrime units are reviewing these aspects.

Punjab Police have registered an FIR at Ranjit Avenue police station in Amritsar in connection with the firing incident. Officials are yet to make any arrests in the matter.

Law enforcement agencies are assessing the cross-border dimensions of the case, particularly the use of international communication channels.
