Delhi Red Fort Blast News Live Updates: Eight people lost their lives and 20 others were injured after a powerful explosion ripped through a car near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening, prompting high alert in the national capital.

The blast occurred around 6.52 pm inside a Hyundai i20 parked close to the Red Fort Metro Station, leaving the area strewn with mangled vehicles and bodies. According to initial intelligence assessments, investigators believe the suspects may have mishandled the explosives, possibly out of panic, leading to the deadly detonation.

As the investigation widens, authorities have detained three additional doctors from Faridabad’s Al-Falah University for questioning.

The incident came just hours after Jammu and Kashmir Police uncovered nearly 3kg of explosives hidden in two residential properties in Faridabad. Sources revealed that the car’s owner, Dr. Umar Mohammad, allegedly panicked after the arrest of two key associates—Dr. Mujammil Shakeel and Dr. Adil Rather—and accidentally triggered the explosion near Red Fort. Investigators further confirmed that ammonium nitrate, the same substance seized in Faridabad, was used in the blast.
