The Supreme Court on Thursday (November 6, 2025) will continue to hear the bail pleas of Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam and others.

During the hearing on Monday (November 3, 2025), the activists Meeran Haider, Umar Khalid, Shifa-ur-Rehman, and others accused in the larger conspiracy case linked to the 2020 northeast Delhi riots told the Supreme Court that they became aware of the completion of the investigation against them only on September 4, 2024.

The accused have assailed the Delhi High Court’s September 2 order denying them bail. Delhi Police had opposed their bail pleas, saying it was not a case of spontaneous riots but a case where riots were “planned well in advance” with a “sinister motive and well-thought-out conspiracy.”
