Top Indian men’s doubles duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty were pushed to the edge before pulling off a gritty comeback win to enter the second round of the Denmark Open Super 750 tournament in Odense on Wednesday.

The sixth-seeded pair, currently ranked among the world’s best, rallied from a game down to outlast Scotland’s twin brothers Christopher and Matthew Grimley, clinching a thrilling 17-21, 21-11, 21-17 victory in just over an hour.

Satwik and Chirag, who have been in red-hot form this season with back-to-back finals at the Hong Kong Open and China Masters, showed trademark composure to turn the match around after a slow start.

The reigning Asian Games gold medallists and two-time World Championships bronze medallists, will next take on Lee Jhe-Huei and Yang Po-Hsuan of Chinese Taipei for a place in the quarterfinals.

Lakshya Battles Through Tough Opener

In men’s singles, Lakshya Sen made a strong start to his Denmark campaign, coming from behind to defeat Ireland’s Nhat Nguyen 10-21, 21-8, 21-18 in a tense opening-round clash.

The 24-year-old from Almora, who narrowly missed out on an Olympic medal in Paris and recently finished runner-up at the Hong Kong Open Super 500, will face a major test in the next round against either second seed Anders Antonsen (Denmark) or Indonesia’s Anthony Ginting.

Mixed Doubles Exit Early

It wasn’t a great day in mixed doubles for India as Mohit Jaglan and Lakshita Jaglan bowed out in the opening round, losing 14-21, 11-21 to Indonesia’s Adnan Maulana and Indah Cahya Sari Jamil.
