Deontay Wilder spoke very openly in a recent talk on Piers Morgan Uncensored, and what he said quickly caught attention. Sitting next to Derek Chisora before their April 4 faceoff, Wilder shared a deeply personal story about his first child.
When asked how his eldest daughter changed his life, Wilder did not hold back. He spoke about her birth, her medical condition, and also made serious claims about how she was conceived. His daughter, Naeiya, was born with spina bifida, a condition that affects the spine. Wilder has often said she gave him the reason to keep going, and this time too, his words showed how much she shaped his life.

During the interview, Deontay Wilder said becoming a father changed everything for him.
But what surprised many was the story he shared about the pregnancy.He said,“It had a strong impact on my life because I chose to keep her. Her mother didn’t. You know her mother tried to set me up… and that’s how we had her. Truth be told, she don’t even know I know this… But I’m telling it to the world.”
Deontay Wilder also claimed that his daughter’s mother wanted a child with him because he was the “best thing” in her life at the time.
He further said that she did not take proper care during the pregnancy. According to him, she continued going out and did not follow basic health steps.He linked this to his daughter’s condition, saying she did not take the needed vitamins or care during pregnancy. Wilder also shared that they had a chance to end the pregnancy, but he decided to go ahead and take responsibility.He said,“Her mother had no remorse… she didn’t even think I was going to make the decision that I made.”Deontay Wilder explains how daughter Naeiya’s condition shaped his career and life decisions
