Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Friday assured that the Telangana government is committed to the welfare of women police officers and will act on the recommendations made during the three-day national conference held at the Telangana State Police Academy. This was Telangana’s first State-level Women Police Officers’ Conference.

Speaking at the valedictory session, the Deputy CM said that discrimination in duties was inappropriate when recruitment itself is conducted without gender bias. He supported the proposal to remove the word ‘woman’ from police designations, stating that women personnel should be treated equally in all duties. He added that requirements relating to uniforms and personal needs of women officers were practical demands, not mere wishes.

Mr. Vikramarka said that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s government emphasised humane governance and recognised that the welfare of personnel was central to the welfare of the people. “For investments to flow into the State, peace and security must be maintained. This is only possible with dedicated police officers who put their lives at risk every day,” he said, praising Telangana for ranking first in law and order in the country.

The Deputy CM urged senior officers to submit proposals not only on personal concerns of the force but also on departmental needs such as office buildings, police stations and staff quarters. He said a dedicated Young India scheme has also been introduced to support the education of police personnel’s children.

Special Chief Secretary (Home) Ravi Gupta commended the contribution of women officers across departments, including law and order, traffic and intelligence. Director General of Police Jitender said that disciplinary measures had already been initiated against personnel found discriminating against women.

Police Academy Director Abhilasha Bisht, Cyber Security Bureau Director Shikha Goyal, Prisons Director General Soumya Mishra, Additional DGP Swati Lakra, Tamil Nadu police officer Balanagadevi, and Principal Conservator of Forests Suvarna, along with other personnel from across the State were present.
