'Determined To Give Everything And...': Dabang Delhi Captain Ashu Malik Confident About Lifting PKL Trophy

Dabang Delhi will face Puneri Paltan in the final of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) season 12 on Friday (October 31) at Thyagaraj Sports Complex in Delhi.

Dabang Delhi will face Puneri Paltan in the final of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) 2025 on Friday (October 31). The Delhi-based team, having finished second in the points table, qualified for Qualifier 1 and advanced to the summit clash by defeating Puneri Paltan. On Friday, in front of home fans, Dabang Delhi will have a chance to win the PKL title for the second time.

Ahead of the high-voltage match, Delhi’s star player and captain Ashu Malik interacted with the press ahead of the Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 Final during a Media Day organized by JioStar and said his teammates are confident about the final and are not feeling any pressure.

“We will treat this final like any other match, but we understand it’s a do-or-die situation. Having played in the Season 8 final, that experience will help me lead the team with better composure. We are determined to give everything we have to lift the trophy for the second time," he said.

According to Ashu, there are experienced players in Delhi’s squad who know how to handle pressure.

“Our team environment is excellent. Experienced players know how to handle pressure and don’t need extra motivation. Fazel Atrachali’s guidance during timeouts is invaluable. He explains even the smallest details that can turn the game around. The coach’s motivational speeches keep us focused, and I always encourage open communication among the team so that no issue goes unresolved."

Speaking about his team’s strength and atmosphere in the dressing room, Ashu said that defence is Delhi’s strength.

“Our defence has been outstanding in every match. Some players score three tackle points, others four. We don’t rush into tackles—we wait for the right moment, which has helped us a lot," he said.

“The atmosphere in the team is very positive. Everyone enjoys themselves before and after training sessions—listening to music, joking around, and keeping the mood light. The coaches are also very supportive. After matches, we sit together, talk, and have fun."

“During practice, everyone gives their 100%. Our sessions last about one and a half hours, and all players train with complete dedication," he said.
