Detroit Red Wings maintain stance on acquiring defenseman Logan Stanley ahead of NHL deadline
The Detroit Red Wings are continuing to maintain their stance on acquiring defenseman Logan Stanley ahead of the NHL deadline. As per Detroit Hockey Now, reports suggest that two separate sources have confirmed that Detroit is actively trying to acquire the 6-foot-7, 231-pound blueliner. Considering his past performance, Logan Stanley would be a valuable addition to the team, as he understands the depth of the team’s defensive lineup.
Besides, he has also contributed occasional offense this season and is on pace to finish with substantial hit and penalty minute totals, which could appeal to the Wings team seeking a potential defenseman for the team.
According to reports, he has scored a 15-16 minutes-per-game player for most of his career. However, he is averaging 17:02 this season, and over the past three games, he has averaged 25-plus minutes, as per reports.Meanwhile, Detroit's front office, led by manager Steve Yzerman, has maintained a notably private stance on the trade objectives of the team for this year, making it difficult to assume what price Detroit might be willing to pay Stanley, in case they acquire him. Industry sources revealed that Yzerman prefers not to disclose strategy or negotiation details publicly.Earlier, Logan Stanley signed a 2-year, $2.5 million contract with the Winnipeg Jets, with an average annual salary of $1.25 million. In 2025-26, Stanley will earn a base salary of $1.5 million, while carrying a cap hit of $1.25 million. Since making his debut in the 2020–21 season, he has suited up for more than 150 games with the Jets, and he will become an Unrestricted Free Agent in 2026. It will be interesting to see if the Red Wings seriously acquire Logan Stanley to boost their blue line for this season ahead of 3 p.m. ET on Friday, March 6, 2026.
