The beloved actor, known for his iconic role as Indravadan Sarabhai, was honored with a heartfelt tribute, highlighting his enduring legacy in Indian television.

Veteran actor Satish Shah’s sudden passing on October 25 left the entertainment industry, his fans, and co-stars in deep sorrow. Best remembered for his iconic portrayal of Indravadan Sarabhai in the classic sitcom Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, Satish Shah was a household name whose comic timing made him one of television’s most beloved personalities.

As the show completed 21 years today, its director and actor Deven Bhojani took to social media to remember his dear friend and colleague, marking the first anniversary of the show without him.Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai, which aired from November 1, 2004, to April 16, 2006, became a cult favourite for its humour, fun dialogues, and quirky characters. The series featured an ensemble cast including Satish Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Sumeet Raghavan, Rupali Ganguly, Rajesh Kumar, and Deven Bhojani himself.

For Deven, the show holds a special place as it marked his debut as a director while also allowing him to play the role of Dushyant, Indravadan and Maya’s eccentric son-in-law.On the show’s 21st anniversary, Deven Bhojani shared a heartfelt video montage on Instagram filled with throwback moments from memorable stills from the sitcom to rare behind-the-scenes pictures from two decades ago. Alongside the video, he wrote, “Remembering our beloved Satish ji on 21st anniversary of my debut directorial series! First one without him #SatishShah #SarabhaiVsSarabhai #anniversary.”

The post instantly struck an emotional chord with fans who flooded the comments with messages remembering Satish Shah and his timeless role as Indravadan.

Satish Shah passed away at the age of 74 in Mumbai. While early reports suggested that the veteran actor died of kidney failure, his on-screen son Rajesh Kumar, known for playing Rosesh Sarabhai, later clarified that the real cause of death was a heart attack. “I can’t tell you how emotional these last 24–25 hours have been.

It’s very difficult to even express it. But I do want to clarify a few things about Satishji’s passing,” Rajesh told Bollywood Hungama.

“Yes, he did have a kidney issue, but he actually passed away due to a heart attack.”The funeral took place at a crematorium in Bandra and was attended by several celebrities, including Farah Khan, Johnny Lever, and Suresh Oberoi. Members of the Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai team — Rupali Ganguly, Sumeet Raghvan, and Rajesh Kumar were seen visibly emotional as they bid a heartfelt farewell to the legendary actor who brought laughter and life into every frame he appeared in. Even after 21 years, Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai continues to remain a timeless classic and Satish Shah’s Indravadan will forever be remembered as one of Indian television’s most iconic characters.
