Devotees thronged temples of Lord Venkateswara, Lord Jagannath Swamy and Goddess Mahalakshmi on the occasion of ‘Toli Ekadasi’ here on Sunday. The festival is considered an auspicious day as it marks Lord Vishnu’s cosmic sleep and beginning of Chaturmasya vratam. The Sun moves to the South Pole on the day of ‘Toli Ekadasi’, according to priests.
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam’s (TTD) temple, Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple president Pilla Vijaya Kumar and others made elaborate arrangements for the devotees to offer prayers to Lord Vishnu, the idol of whom is in the form of cosmic sleep in the temple. Sri Jagannath Swamy temple and Ashtalakshmi temple and others witnessed a rush of devotees from the early hours.
