​'Dhadak 2' locks August 1 release; to clash with Ajay Devgn's 'Son of Sardaar 2'

The success of 'Saiyaara' at the box office has reportedly caused quite a stir in Bollywood, leading to changes in the release plans of several upcoming romantic dramas. However, 'Dhadak 2', starring Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi, is staying on track.

The makers on Monday, confirmed that the film will release as scheduled on August 1, setting up a box office clash with Ajay Devgn’s 'Son of Sardaar 2'.

Many industry insiders assumed that the makers of 'Dhadak 2' might delay the film due to the massive buzz around 'Saiyaara'. But producer Karan Johar is standing firm and confident about releasing the film on August 1 as planned.

However, with just 10 days to go before the release of 'Dhadak 2' and 'Son of Sardaar 2', many are wondering if the 'Saiyaara' craze will fade before the big clash?Recently, actress Ameesha Patel also joined the bandwagon like other celebs and praised 'Saiyaara'.

About 'Dhadak 2'

The film synopsis reads,"Nilesh and Vidhi fall in love with each other. However, tragedy strikes when the caste differences threaten to end their relationship."

The romantic drama, directed by Shazia Iqbal, is getting praise for its powerful storyline and the fresh chemistry between the lead actors. It is reportedly a Hindi remake of the Tamil film Pariyerum Perumal.Earlier, 'Dhadak' which released in 2018, was a romantic drama starring Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter. Directed by Shashank Khaitan and produced by Karan Johar, the film was a Hindi remake of the Marathi hit 'Sairat'. It told the story of young love caught in the web of caste and societal pressure. While the film received mixed reviews from critics, it was a commercial success.
