Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner Aditya Ranjan Warns Public About Fake Facebook Profile and Cybercrime Risks

Dhanbad: The deputy commissioner (DC) of Dhanbad, Aditya Ranjan, has become the latest target of cybercriminals after his fake Facebook profile with his picture was created. The DC’s social media impersonator has been sending out friend requests and messages through Facebook Messenger, raising concerns of potential misuse.

Ranjan has alerted the public about the fake profile.Issuing an advisory on Friday, Ranjan appealed to citizens not to respond to any messages received from unauthorised accounts. He urged people to remain vigilant and exercise caution if they come across suspicious friend requests, messages, or links. The DC clarified that he has not made any monetary requests or sent messages from such accounts. “If anyone receives messages demanding money, offering inducements, or sharing unknown links from fake accounts or unauthorised phone numbers, they should immediately block the sender and report it to Facebook,” he said in the advisory.
