Officials speak to passengers at Dhanbad railway station
Dhanbad: The Dhanbad railway division of East Central Railways (ECR) concluded its fortnight-long “Swachhta Pakhwada – 2025” by organizing a walkathon and a series of cleanliness activities.
The walkathon held from the Railway Coach Restaurant (south side of the Dhanbad railway station) to the Dhanbad Railway Stadium was led by divisional railway manager (DRM) Akhilesh Mishra.The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from Dhanbad Municipal Commissioner Ravi Raj Sharma, social workers, railway officials, and employees. Following the walkathon, Mishra interacted with passengers at the station and enquired about available passenger amenities and their suggestions for further improvement. DRM Mishra, along with officers and staff, planted saplings and emphasised the importance of cleanliness and environmental conservation. He urged everyone to make cleanliness a habit rather than a campaign.During the programme, sanitation workers who contributed exceptionally during the Swachhta Pakhwada were felicitated and presented with certificates of appreciation.
Across the division, intensive cleanliness drives were carried out at various stations, encouraging passengers and local citizens to maintain hygiene in public areas.The event concluded with the “Swachhta Pledge,” where all participants vowed to keep their surroundings, neighbourhoods, and workplaces clean and to refrain from spreading litter.Speaking on the occasion, DRM Mishra said that Swachhta Pakhwada is not just a campaign but a continuous effort towards a disciplined and beautiful life. Municipal Commissioner Ravi Raj Sharma added that cleanliness is not solely the responsibility of municipal bodies but a collective duty of society, as it benefits everyone.
