The Dharmasthala Bhaktara Okkoota (Federation of Dharmasthala Devotees), Mysuru, has announced plans to stage a demonstration in Dharmasthala on Tuesday, September 2, expressing solidarity with D. Veerendra Heggade in the wake of the alleged conspiracy to defame the shrine.
Okkoota convener Narayana V. Hegde told reporters here on Saturday that nearly 1,000 people representing various organisations, including hotel owners, social activists, women’s groups and others, will travel to Dharmasthala and participate in the protest to extend their support to Mr. Heggade, and also seek action against those who are behind the alleged conspiracy to defame him.
The protest will be held under the banner ‘Heggade Avare, Nimondige Naviddeve’ (Mr. Heggade, we are with you).
Protesters will depart from Nanjaraja Bahadur Choultry in Mysuru on September 2 and proceed to Dharmasthala for the demonstration. They will also meet Mr. Heggade after the protest to instil courage in him, Okkoota convener said.
