Dhubri cops arrest 7 in anti-drug crackdown

Dhubri: Dhubri police arrested seven alleged drug peddlers in a major anti-drug crackdown and seized huge quantity of drugs from their possession on Saturday night.Police raids were conducted on Indira Gandhi Road at the houses of Firoz Sheikh, Abdul Samir, Harsh Agarwal, Subrata Ghorame, Moinul Khan, Saidul Islam, and Mun Khan.

The seized items included 35 plastic vials containing 37.6 grams of suspected narcotics, 390 YABA tablets, a sccoter, four Android mobile phones, and Rs 4,900 in cash.All seven were arrested and booked under the NDPS Act.In a separate operation, Bogribari police in Kokrajhar district seized a large quantity of drugs hidden in an e-rickshaw in the Athani area and arrested the driver, Ajgar Ali.Officer-in charge of Dhubri Police Station (Sadar) Pritam Das told TOI that the anti-drug operation was carried out by the Dhubri district crime unit along with a police team led by the additional superintendent of police (Crime). “We have been tightening the noose around drug peddlers in Dhubri, and more will soon be brought under the police net,” Das said.
