In a major breakthrough in the Gopal Khemka murder case, police interrogation of arrested shooter Umesh Yadav has revealed shocking details. Umesh admitted to killing Khemka out of “compulsion" driven by financial distress. He also disclosed that he wasn’t alone in carrying out the crime but has so far refused to name his accomplices.

The police questioned Umesh about his relationship with Ashok Sao, to which he replied that he had known him for approximately one and a half years. He stated that their last meeting occurred a month and a half ago in Bihar Sharif, where they conspired to murder Gopal Khemka. When asked about the source of the weapon used in the murder, Umesh claimed ignorance, stating that he had paid a man named Vikas, who provided the weapon.

Despite persistent questioning, Umesh has remained silent on the identity of others involved in the incident, leading the police to suspect the presence of more accomplices at the crime scene.

In response to inquiries about his criminal history, Umesh asserted that he had not engaged in any previous crimes but committed this murder out of financial desperation, saying, “I did all this under compulsion, I needed money very much."

The investigation is being conducted rigorously, with police teams interrogating Umesh one by one using a list of 200 questions. The focus is now on identifying and apprehending other suspects connected to the murder. Both Ashok Sao and Umesh Yadav are currently under police remand for further questioning.

Khemka, a renowned industrialist, was fatally shot just outside his residence in the Gandhi Maidan area shortly after exiting his vehicle.

The incident occurred at around 11 pm as he was returning to his home, located next to the Panache Hotel within the Gandhi Maidan police station jurisdiction. He resided in the Twin Tower society.

Police suspect that Khemka’s murder was a carefully orchestrated act involving several conspirators, including lookouts who monitored his movements on the night of July 4.

In a related development, a primary suspect in the murder case was killed in a police encounter.
