It seems all is not well between actor Ranveer Singh and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, a duo once known for delivering cinematic blockbusters together. According to senior journalist Subhash K Jha, the two may have had a falling out after Bhansali chose not to cast Ranveer in the lead role for his next big project, Love & War. The film, a grand love triangle, stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal in lead roles. Reportedly, Ranveer was offered the second male lead but turned it down, and the role eventually went to Vicky Kaushal. This decision has apparently led to tensions between the actor and the director, who had previously collaborated on hits like Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani, and Padmaavat. The strain became more evident when Bhansali was noticeably absent from Ranveer’s recent birthday celebrations.
According to Deccan Chronicle, On July 6, Ranveer Singh celebrated his 40th birthday with a very private get-together where only close friends were welcome. Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who gave Ranveer the superstar status with Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat, was not one of the invitees. The director and actor are no more close friends. Ranveer, who was earlier supposed to headline Bhansali’s ambitious Baiju Bawra alongside Alia Bhatt, appears to have moved on professionally. While Bhansali shifts focus to Love & War with Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer has teamed up with Aditya Dhar for the action-packed Dhurandhar.
On his birthday, the first look of Dhurandhar was revealed, showcasing Ranveer in a rugged avatar. The 2-minute 40-second teaser promises a “raw and relentless visual experience.” The film also boasts a powerful ensemble cast, including Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, and Arjun Rampal. Though the Ranveer-Bhansali chapter may be on pause for now, fans will be watching closely to see if the once-iconic collaboration can be revived in the future.
