The State government feels that it is difficult to come to a definite conclusion on the reasons that led to the fire mishap in the Sigachi Industries Limited unit at Pashamylaram in Sangareddy district unless complete records of the unit are verified.

Senior State government officials along with team of experts visited the accident spot on Friday (July 04) and inspected the premises. The development follows the blast reportedly in the unit which claimed around 40 lives.

The government constituted a team of experts to study the reasons behind the blast and suggest remedial measures. The team on its initial examination of the site on Friday found the mishap as ‘intriguing’ as Sigachi is an old plant.

“It is very intriguing because it’s an old plant with well established processes,” a senior officials told The Hindu after the visit.

Meanwhile, Sigachi Industries on Friday said 39 people have died in Monday’s fire and explosion at its manufacturing plant in Pashamylaram. On Thursday, it had revised the number of deceased to 38 instead of 40 team members the company mentioned previously.

The company issued its latest statement even as a committee led by the Chief Secretary has launched investigation into the incident and its underlying causes.

On those injured, Sigachi said 33 team members were injured and 12 discharged.
