When Gabriel took over, he first led a drive, ending in a field goal.

But where he really stood out was on the next drive, where he stayed composed and strong, completing nine of eleven passes in a tight series and fast-moving 86-yard drive over 11 plays, capping it off with a 3-yard touchdown pass to Gage Larvadain with 17 seconds left in the first half. He finished with 129 passing yards, 1 touchdown, zero interceptions, and a perfect rating.

He had this strong showing after Joe Flacco was officially named the starter for Week 1, putting Gabriel in a great position to jump ahead of Flacco and rookie Shedeur Sanders on the depth chart.
