Diploma in Electricals and Electronics Engineering is equivalent to Intermediate programme: HC

Justice K. Lakshman of Telangana High Court directed the Convenor of DEECET-2025 and the Director of State Council of Educational Research and Training to consider the course of Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) issued by the State Board of Technical Education equivalent to Intermediate programme conducted by Board of Intermediate Education.

A student K. Harish had completed diploma in EEE. He appeared for DEECET-2025 for admission to two-year course of Diploma in Elementary Education and Diploma in Pre-School Education. He secured 3,945 rank but was denied admission with the authorities maintaining that his diploma of EEE was not equivalent to Intermediate programme.

After hearing contentions of the counsels for the government departments and the petitioner, the judge held that earlier government orders had categorically stated that the petitioner’s diploma course was equal to Intermediate.
