The door-to-door enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll kicked-off in the nine Assembly constituencies in Cuddalore district on Tuesday.
The SIR seeks to ensure accuracy of the electoral rolls by identifying the names of absent, shifted, deceased voters or duplicate names and collect details of newly eligible electors. The exercise would be carried out with January 1, 2026 as the qualifying date and all those who attain the age of 18 on the day can apply for inclusion of names in the electoral rolls.
District Election Officer and Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar said that a total of 2,313 booth-level officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door visits in all the polling booths in Cuddalore district for the enumeration exercise that would be carried out from November 4 to December 5.
The BLOs will visit thrice the houses of all the voters who figure in the existing electoral rolls to distribute the enumeration forms. Each voter whose name figures in the list will have to fill the forms and hand it over to the BLOs. The BLOs will help the voter in matching with either their name or their relative’s name in the last SIR held in 2002.
If the voters’ names were found in the 2002 voter list, the details should be mentioned in the enumeration forms. The Enumeration Forms, printed in Tamil, would have the names of the existing voters and the old photograph. Any adult member of the family can fill the details in the form, including date of birth and mobile number. They would have to affix the latest colour photograph in the forms.
The draft electoral roll will be published on December 9. Claims and objections can be filed between December 9, 2025, and January 8, 2026. Hearing on the claims will be taken up from December 9 to January 31, 2026 and the final electoral rolls will be published on February 7, next year.
The Collector urged the public to utilise this opportunity to update or include their names in the electoral roll.
