District judge dies of cardiac arrest in his court chamber in Kalaburagi

Third Additional Senior Civil Judge of the Kalaburagi District Court Vishwanath V. Mugathi on Monday died in his court chamber following a cardiac arrest.

The 44-year-old judge, after developing severe chest pain during court proceedings, went to his chamber where he collapsed.

He was rushed to Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research (SJICSR) hospital where doctors declared him dead. The judge was transferred to Kalaburagi District Court a fortnight ago.

His unexpected demise left the legal community in shock.

The Kalaburagi District Bar Association expressed deep grief and its members did not attend court proceedings for the day. Those from the legal fraternity gathered at the hospital to pay their last respects to the departed soul.
