BJP leader and Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan on Monday (June 2, 2025) alleged that the resolutions passed at the DMK general council meeting in Madurai against the BJP and the Union government are an attempt to divert public attention from the DMK’s own failures and corruption.

In a statement, he alleged that in the past four years of the DMK regime, people from the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have faced numerous hardships, besides farmers, weavers, and fishermen. Mr. Murugan also countered various resolutions passed by the DMK.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had already taken measures regarding the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) draft gold loan norms and had repeatedly asked what funds the Centre had not granted to Tamil Nadu. A sum of ₹11 lakh crore has been allocated to Tamil Nadu during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure, he said.

Mr. Murugan also dismissed claims of Hindi imposition and delay in publishing the Keeladi excavation reports, and termed them baseless. The DMK has no moral ground to speak about the caste census, he added.

Mr. Murugan also accused the DMK of dynastic politics, institutional corruption, and misleading propaganda.
