Dodgers and Blue Jays fans honor Alex Vesia’s baby Sterling Sol
While Alex Vesia was away, the Dodgers played in the World Series against the Toronto Blue Jays. During Game 3, Dodgers pitchers wore hats with the number 51, which is Alex’s jersey number, to show their support. Veteran pitcher Clayton Kershaw said, “We wanted to do something to honor him.”When the series moved to Canada, even Blue Jays players joined in. They also wrote the number 51 on their caps. Dodgers outfielder Kiké Hernández said he was surprised at first but then realized it was a kind gesture from the rival team. “It showed that life is bigger than baseball,” he said.
Fans also joined the tribute. A Blue Jays fan named Marcus Kim started a donation drive after Game 7. He suggested that Dodgers fans donate money to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children, a tradition the Blue Jays had started earlier.
Within hours, the donations reached over $30,000, with many messages saying, “On behalf of Alex Vesia. We are rivals, not enemies.”Even though the Dodgers won the World Series, the moment became more about kindness than baseball. Both teams showed that humanity comes first.
