PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Sunday urged the State government not to relocate the primary health centre (PHC) at Kaduvetti in Thiruverkadu, near Chennai, which has been functioning for over 60 years.

In a statement, he said the PHC, set up as a maternity centre in 1967, served over 20 villages in the surrounding areas, benefiting scores of people.

“The State government has decided to shift the PHC to Puliyambedu in Noombal. It is unacceptable to deny people access to primary health centre in the name of improving it,” he said. “The present PHC is situated on Avadi-Poonamallee Highway, providing easy access to people living in the villages. The alternative spot lies 7 km away,” Dr. Anbumani added.
