Premier League side Chelsea clinched the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 title on Monday with a 3-0 triumph over Ligue 1 champions PSG at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Blues star Cole Palmer struck twice before setting Brazilian Joao Pedro up for the third as Enzo Maresca’s men shocked Luis Enrique and Co. in a major upset. Chelsea were joined on the podium by the President of the USA, Donald Trump, who stood among the CFC players during the presentation of the ceremony.
Trump, alongside FIFA chief Gianni Infantino, presented the trophy to Chelsea skipper Reece James following his side’s emphatic win over the Parisians, and remained on the podium as the Blues hoisted the title.
Chelsea advanced from Group D, securing second place behind Flamengo. The Londoners were defeated by the Brazilian outfit but later achieved victories against Esperance Tunisia and MLS team LAFC. In the Round of 16, Chelsea faced Portuguese giants Benfica and triumphed with a 4-1 victory. They then narrowly defeated Brazilian team Palmeiras 2-1 in the quarterfinal. A 2-0 win against Fluminense in the semifinal ensured their place in the final held on American soil.

Meanwhile, PSG topped Group B in the league stage, recording wins over Atletico Madrid and Seattle Sounders, although they did suffer a loss to Brazilian side Botafogo. In the Round of 16, PSG routed Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami 4-0, followed by a 2-0 victory over German champions Bayern Munich in the quarterfinal. PSG then demolished Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid with another 4-0 win to reach the final as favourites. However, Enrique’s men fell short in the final, with Chelsea stunning the UEFA Champions League winners to capture the coveted trophy.
