Donald Trump signed an executive order on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the White House in Washington D.C. For the 2028 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, which will be held in Los Angeles, California, this group will direct efforts on security, transportation, visa and credential processing.

Having been instrumental in winning the U.S. bid, Trump said he considered supervising these Games during his second term to be a great honor.

President Donald Trump will head the 2028 Olympic task force, which will include cabinet members and officials from agencies such as the Departments of Homeland Security, Transportation, State, Treasury, Defense, Justice, and the FBI.

Its work will coordinate federal, state, and Los Angeles city teams on key logistics.

An administration official confirmed that the task force will also streamline visas and access credentials for foreign athletes, coaches, officials, and media.Karoline Leavitt, White House press secretary, said during his first term Trump helped win the U.S. bid and now calls it a global honor to oversee this event. She added that sports remain one of Trump’s greatest passions.

Casey Wasserman, chairperson and president of LA28, the local organizing committee for the 2028 Olympics, welcomed the announcement.

He said forming the task force is a key step that shows a shared commitment to delivering “not just the biggest, but the greatest Games the world has ever seen in the summer of 2028.”The 2028 Olympics has also thanked the administration for leadership and support. The federal “One Big Beautiful Bill” allocates $1 billion to fund security, planning, and related Games costs.Co-hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, this task group follows a comparable one established in March 2025 for the 2026 FIFA World Cup also chaired by President Trump.
