Draymond Green gives his opinion on the LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan GOAT debate. The NBA legend tried to settle the never-ending debate with his reasoning. It was during a live stream alongside Kai Cenat. However, the main line of reasoning was actually about the players and the teammates LeBron and Jordan shared the court with throughout their careers.
While Green was at it, he even trolled an NBA legend, Matthew Dellavedova.
Draymond Green sides with LeBron James as the GOAT over Michael Jordan
In a live stream with Kai Cenat, Draymond Green shares his opinion on the infamous LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan GOAT debate. However, his approach towards justifying LeBron as the GOAT had slightly different parameters. Green talked about the players the two legends had shared the court with. Green’s first pick was J.R. Smith. While everyone else in the league believed that Smith was done, it was LeBron who showed his trust in the player.
“People threw the towel in on JR Smith. As talented as JR was, people threw the towel in on him and were like, ‘Yo, he can’t play winning basketball. You can’t do this, you can’t do that.’ JR had talent, no question, but when people throw the towel in on you in this league, it’s over.” Green stated. However, LeBron was not ready to let go of the player. He believed that Smith could shoot, and he could defend. These two qualities would be of great help to the team.
Green believed that Jordan did not have such interactions with any player throughout his career. However, a name did pop up in the stream. It was Matthew Dellavedova. “That guy stinks.” Green immediately reacted and continued, “I got a lot of respect for Delly. Stinks. I respect his game. Completely stinks. MJ wasn’t winning with Matthew Dellavedova. I mean, unless they thought that of Steve Kerr.” He even believed that Kerr was one of Jordan’s worst teammates.
Drawing the comparison, Green stated how LeBron would go out of the line to help his own teammates. However, that is not the case with Jordan. Kerr had to find his own place in the league while being Jordan’s teammate. However, despite LeBron’s contribution, there were instances when a few other players did not want to play with the Los Angeles Lakers’ star.
Which NBA legend refused to play with LeBron James?
Kawhi Leonard was regarded as one of the best players. In 2019, after leading the Toronto Raptors to their victory, Leonard had two options. It was either the Los Angeles Lakers or the Los Angeles Clippers he could sign with. However, Leonard did not want to play with LeBron and ultimately signed with the Clippers.
Bruce Arther of the Toronto Star wrote, “Leonard didn’t want to play with LeBron James, so the Lakers were a third wheel in the sweepstakes.” Leonard is still a part of the Clippers. Also Read: Dallas Mavericks star Cooper Flagg shines among ESPN's NBA newcomers, earning accolades before regular season commences
