DRDO conducted three consecutive successful flight tests.
In a significant boost to country’s strategic defence preparedness, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully demonstrated multiple advanced technologies aimed at strengthening the country’s ability to counter a wide range of aerial and maritime threats.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh shared the pictures of demonstration on X and announced that DRDO conducted three consecutive successful flight tests.
According to the Defence Minister, the multi-layered BMD system successfully intercepted and engaged long-range ballistic missile targets during the tests. The interceptors performed as intended, demonstrating the effectiveness of India’s indigenous missile defence architecture against sophisticated aerial threats.
“The systems are designed and developed with the latest technologies to address emerging missile threats," Singh said, congratulating DRDO scientists and engineers for the achievement.

The successful trials place India among a select group of nations possessing advanced ballistic missile defence capabilities capable of engaging ballistic missile threats, including intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs). Such systems are considered crucial for protecting strategic assets and population centres from long-range missile attacks.
In addition to the BMD tests, DRDO also conducted the maiden flight test of the Naval Anti-Ship Missile-Medium Range (NASM-MR), demonstrating India’s capability to neutralize hostile maritime targets at medium ranges. The successful test marks an important milestone in strengthening the Indian Navy’s offensive and defensive capabilities in the maritime domain.
