Drill conducted in the Nilgiris

In preparation for the northeast monsoon, the fire and rescue services conducted a drill at the Pine Forest adjoining Kamaraj Sagar Dam in Udhagamandalam in the Nilgiris on Thursday (September 4, 2025).

The personnel conducted demonstrations of rescues on water bodies and showed members of the public how to perform CPR. They also showcased techniques to rescue people trapped in rubble and also sensitised tourists about steps they can take to ensure their safety during the monsoon.

The district administration is to hold review meetings in the coming weeks to review preparedness measures undertaken by government departments to meet any emergencies arising out of the monsoon.

Officials from the Revenue Department were also present during the drill.
