President Droupadi Murmu unveiled the bust of former President K.R. Narayanan at Kerala Raj Bhavan on Thursday (October 23, 2025).

Speaking on the occasion, the President described K.R. Narayanan’s life as a story of courage, perseverance and self-belief. She said that through immense dedication and the power of education, the former President rose from humble beginnings to occupy the highest constitutional office in the country.

“His academic excellence was a symbol of what determination and opportunity can accomplish when guided by purpose,” she observed.

Recalling his illustrious diplomatic career, the President said that before entering politics, K.R. Narayanan had built a distinguished career in the Indian Foreign Service, where he upheld India’s values of peace, justice and cooperation with utmost sincerity. She added that he remained steadfast to the principles of fairness and inclusion throughout his life.

“K.R. Narayanan has left behind a rich legacy of morality, integrity, compassion and democratic spirit. As we remember him today, we should draw inspiration from his life which was dedicated to nation-building, to create a more inclusive, just and compassionate India,” the President said.

She also expressed confidence that K.R. Narayanan’s memory will continue to inspire people to uphold the values of equality, integrity and public service that he stood for.

Former President Ram Nath Kovind, Kerala Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar and Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan were also present on the occasion.
