Aizawl: Police have seized 68 grams of heroin worth Rs 13,60,000 and 5.935 kg of methamphetamine worth Rs 4,74,80,000 near Champhai town and nabbed three persons, including two Myanmar nationals, a senior official said on Wednesday.The official said on Sunday afternoon, a suspicious car driven by Lalhriathlua (26) of Vaphai, Champhai district was intercepted by police near Champhai town. While the car was being checked, a two-wheeler suddenly ran pass them resulting in hot pursuit by the police.The rider and the person riding pillion abandoned the vehicle nearby and escaped on foot. The driver of the car was detained on suspicion and after thorough interrogation, Lalhriathlua identified the two-wheeler driver and the pillion rider was nabbed near Khankawn Police check post.
Police said a thorough search of a bag allegedly concealed by the duo — identified as Kaplianmanga (45) and Lalnunzira (21), both residents of Tlangkawi, Chin state in Myanmar, led to the recovery and seizure of the contraband.A criminal case under sections 22(c)/21(b)/29 of the Narcotic Drugs & Pychotropic Substances Act, 1985 read with Section 21 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025 had been registered at Champhai Police Station.
