The Excise Department on Tuesday destroyed narcotic substances valued at around ₹1 crore that were seized in 104 cases across various excise stations in the city.
The confiscated drugs, collected under the jurisdictions of Ameerpet, Dhoolpet, Kachiguda, Musheerabad and Nampally excise stations, were incinerated at GJ Multicove Private Limited in Shadnagar. The destruction was carried out under the supervision of AES Srinivasa Rao.
Among the substances destroyed were 295 kilograms of marijuana, 7.65 grams of MDMA, 1.25 kilograms of straw poppy, small quantities of cocaine and hashish oil, penile injections, and 35 millilitres of hydrochloride. Officials said the total value of the destroyed drugs is estimated to be nearly ₹1 crore.
In a separate operation, the State Task Force (STF) - B team, led by Sub-Inspector Balaraju, conducted raids in Shaikpet in view of the Jubilee Hills by-elections.
During the raids, the team seized 66 quarter bottles of liquor from three individuals who were allegedly selling alcohol illegally. The accused and the seized liquor were handed over to the Golconda police station for further action.
