Fans stunned as IShowSpeed beats NBA star Jaylen Brown

Desperate victories sometimes cause painful costs, YouTube star Darren “IShowSpeed” learned it the hard way as he ran his way past NBA champion Jaylen Brown in the streets of Boston.

The streamer gained the right to brag over the Boston Celtics star but was left clutching his hamstring in agony at the end of the race.

Victory Comes With a Cost

It was no random recruiting of some friendly competition. Back in August, Brown had joked, throwing a casual remark, claiming he could beat Speed in a footrace with ease. In true unpredictable fashion, Speed brought it up again during his Speed Does America livestream tour. While in Boston on September 5, the topic of a potential race came about, and hilarity ensued as Speed would appear not quite like himself dressed in an eccentric costume: Think Revolutionary War clothes.

The Race and the Aftermath

Speed, surprisingly, exploded out of the gate to finish ahead of the NBA star. But the triumph was bittersweet. Almost immediately after crossing the line, Speed dropped to the floor, clutching his leg."Let's go! Let's go! I pulled my hammy! Ah! My hammy! Watch out. Watch out. Watch out. I pulled my hammy. I pulled my hammy, I still won it... I can't get up. Stop! Stop! Stop! I pulled my hammy!" he cried mid-broadcast, while his bodyguards hurriedly ran to his rescue.

The streamer maintained the content despite the gripping pain, urging the viewers to keep the energy level high. “Let's go though chat! Ws in the stream! F*k! Ah, f*k!”he continued yelling until finally being helped up.

Jaylen Brown Reacts

Even with the defeat, Brown took it in good spirit and made a mock-like jab at the situation online. Posting on X, the NBA champ wrote:“Change your name bro @ishowspeedsui bro pulled his hamstring. Win is a win, lmk if you need a therapist.”That provoked more banter in the fanbase about whether Speed's super close win would actually count considering that he was injured.

Fans in Shock

The race clips lasted just seconds on social media, with folks exclaiming that Speed from Twitch, just a boy of 20, managed to outpace a professional athlete in the prime of his condition. Reactions varied from sheer astonishment to outright laughter. Some mentioned," Bro is more athletic than pro athletes" while other fans said, "Lol Speed is freaking fast."

and "If this guy even spends more time at the gym, he must be at the top of the world.

" Some proposed that Brown simply underestimated his opponent or was not giving his best in the run; in either case, Speed had many impressed with the display of raw athleticism.

A Tour Full of Surprises

Boston is just one of many highlights from quite the ambitious 35-day Speed Does America marathon, with him streaming non-stop while traveling to big cities across America. The project so far has had its share of chaotic moments, celebrity meetings, and now an unexpected race win. Although injured, Speed didn't even try to address the possibility of slowing down his streaming grind. His ability to continue had only served to amplify his reputation as one of the most unpredictable entertainers on the Internet.
