Dulquer Salmaan and Rana Daggubati’s much-anticipated drama Kaantha has opened to a strong start at the box office, collecting Rs 4 crore on Day 1 as per Sacnilk, signaling a promising run ahead. The film, which also stars Bhagyashri Borse and Samuthirakani in a significant roles, drew solid footfall thanks to its intriguing premise, star power, and positive word-of-mouth emerging from reviews and early shows.The film is set in the movie business of the 1950s in Madras and talks about the tussle between a megastar and his mentor.
Released across the country in multiple languages, the film has benefitted from strong script and superlative performances by the leading cast.

The review also praised Dulquer who is often considered the poster boy for period film, it said , “ You have to commend Dulquer's variety in script selection and his commitment to making each choice count.
He captures the old-school star mystique without overplaying it, delivering calculated looks and mannerisms that occasionally crack to reveal something underneath”.
The review though points out a glaring issue with the film , it states , “ Where Kaantha stumbles is in its transparency. Red herrings get tossed around, but once the pieces align, the trajectory feels obvious.” Future Trade circle hopes that with a positive start Kaantha is expected to show growth on Saturday and Sunday and is positioned for a potentially impressive first-weekend total.
