Dulquer Salmaan’s much-anticipated film Kaantha is all set to release on November 14. The movie comes right after the massive success of Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, which Dulquer backed as a producer and also appeared in a cameo role.
Interestingly, Lokah also marks the long-awaited collaboration between Dulquer and his father, legendary actor Mammootty.
Dulquer on Mammootty’s role and their first collaboration
In a recent chat with Behindwoods, Dulquer opened up about working with his father for the first time. When asked if the father-son duo would finally share the screen, Dulquer hinted that Lokah might indeed be their first true collaboration.“I think not before that... even this, we had to convince him.
I’m proud that even after 14 years of acting, when he says yes, I’ve earned it. He’s not someone who agrees to something just because I’m his son. He is supportive though — he was taken aback by the budget,” Dulquer shared.
Mammootty’s voiceover in the film
Mammootty, the megastar known for iconic films like Bheeshma Parvam, Kannur Squad, and Amaram, has lent his voice to a character in Lokah, sparking excitement among fans. Dulquer, meanwhile, made a brief cameo as Odiyan — a character expected to play a major role in future instalments of the franchise.
About Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra
Written and directed by Dominic Arun, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra stars Kalyani Priyadarshan, Naslen, Sandy Master, Arun Kurian, and Chandu Salim Kumar. The film follows the story of a mysterious woman who moves to Bengaluru in search of a normal life but is forced to use her hidden powers. With its ambitious storytelling and large-scale execution, Lokah has already created waves at the box office, collecting over Rs 300 crore worldwide.
