Madhepura: Flutter gripped the health officials on Sunday after medicines allegedly meant for a govt hospital were found dumped amid a pile of garbage near the Ghailardh Community Health Centre (CHC) in Madhepura district, triggering outrage and calls for accountability.According to locals, a heap of medicines, including cough syrup, ORS and other essential supplies, was discovered discarded with garbage in a corner of a room in a building under construction adjacent to the CHC. A resident took photographs and circulated them widely, prompting immediate public concern.Acting on the viral images, district health manager Sanjiv Kumar Verma rushed to the spot to verify the situation.
He confirmed dereliction of duty on the part of staff members and assured that action would be taken against those found responsible after a proper probe. He also suspected the involvement of miscreants attempting to “malign the department”. “Real fact will come to the fore after probe,” he said.Madhepura civil surgeon incharge Sachin Kumar also took serious note of the incident and stressed the need for a thorough investigation and strict action against such irregularities.
Locals alleged that patients were often denied medicines available at the CHC and told to purchase them from private medical shops. They claimed that staff deliberately dumped hospital medicines in the garbage to create an artificial shortage.
