Pune: A 31-year-old BPO staffer of a prominent company died after a dumper truck collided head-on with his scooter near Shastrinagar Chowk on the Pune-Nagar Road around 10.50am on Sunday.The victim has been identified as Tanvir Alam Yaar Khan (31) of Wagholi. His brother Atta Khan (34) lodged a complaint against the dumper truck driver later in the evening.Inspector Pallavi Meher of the Yerawada police said, "Khan was heading to his office located near Gunjan Chowk from Wagholi at the time of the accident. He reached a spot near the Wadia Bungalow bus stop off Shastrinagar Chowk when the dumper truck, which was travelling in the wrong direction, suddenly came in front of him."She added, "This section of the highway is not under CCTV surveillance, but we suspect that the truck was travelling towards Gunjan Chowk and took a U-turn to go back towards Shastrinagar Chowk — on the wrong side of the road."

Following the accident, the truck driver fled. However, Pawar said, "We have identified the truck driver. He is currently staying at Shastrinagar Chowk and is a native of Bihar. We impounded the dumper truck and RTO officials will inspect it.
We contacted the truck owner, who gave us details of the driver.
