Duo gets death for rape-murder

A special Pocso court in Agra Thursday sentenced two men to death for the rape and murder of a five-year-old girl in 2024. Special judge (Pocso) Sonika Chaudhary, describing the crime committed by the girl’s uncle and his friend as “heinous and barbaric beyond imagination,” declared it one of the “rarest of rare” cases.In her 66-page verdict, the judge termed the act “cold- blooded” and “executed with deliberate cruelty and calculated intent”. The court imposed a Rs 2.2 lakh fine on each convict, stating that “such barbaric and inhuman crimes deserve the severest punishment”.
