Mohammedan Sporting Club ended their 2024 Durand Cup campaign with a 3-0 win over BSF Football Team, thanks to goals from Sajal Bag and Maxion, showcasing their dominance.

Mohammedan Sporting Club wrapped up their 2024 Durand Cup campaign on a high note, delivering a commanding 3-0 win over BSF Football Team in their final Group F fixture on Thursday.

Coming into the match after back-to-back defeats, the Kolkata giants were clearly intent on restoring pride—and wasted no time asserting their dominance.

Barely five minutes in, Sajal Bag calmly slotted home a penalty to put Mohammedan ahead, showing composure and leadership in a pressure moment. The early goal stunned BSF FT and tilted the momentum entirely in favour of the Black Panthers.

Maxion at the Double

The pressure mounted as Mohammedan pressed relentlessly. In the 21st minute, a fierce effort was parried by BSF goalkeeper Harpreet Singh, but Maxion was perfectly placed to pounce on the rebound, doubling the lead with a sharp finish. The goal sent the home crowd into raptures and further dented BSF’s confidence.

Maxion continued to be the focal point of Mohammedan’s attack and was rewarded again in the 35th minute. A precise cross from the right found him unmarked inside the box. With excellent control and vision, he rifled in his second goal of the day—capping off a flowing team move that reflected the side’s technical quality and chemistry.

BSF had a rare chance to respond just before half-time when Kishori Singh slid a dangerous ball across the box to Navjot Singh, but the forward squandered the opportunity from close range.

Controlled Second Half from Mohammedan

With a comfortable three-goal cushion, Mohammedan shifted gears in the second half, adopting a more measured approach focused on possession and shape. Their midfield, which had been vibrant in the first half, transitioned into a controlling role.

BSF FT tried to mount a response, with Kishori Singh continuing to probe and Navjot again finding himself in a good position. However, the finishing touch eluded the visitors, and Mohammedan’s defence, marshalled with calm authority, ensured the clean sheet remained intact.

Substitute Shiba Mandi injected fresh energy into the attack and came close to adding a fourth late in the game, narrowly missing the target after a solo run.
