Hyderabad witnessed a major e-Sharm outreach initiative with a registration camp being setup by the Dattopant Thengadi National Board for Workers Education and Development (DTNBWED) in association with the Telangana Gig and Platform Workers’ Union (TGPWU) and GMR RGIA Airport Management.

The drive saw active participation from ride hailing apps such as Ola, Uber and Rapido with drivers operating from the airport’s free parking zones that serve as spaces of opportunity for thousands of gig workers.

The camp aims to register unorganised and app-based workers on the e-Shram portal, thereby, giving them access to social security benefits and government welfare schemes.

M R Deshpandye, Regional Directorate Incharge, DTNBWED, said the initiative reflects a commitment to social inclusion, while TGPWU president Shaik Salauddin called it a step towards securing dignity and rights for drivers.
