Elite Anti-Narcotics Group for Law Enforcement (EAGLE) head and IGP Ake Ravi Krishna has cautioned students against the use of drugs and ganja.

Speaking at an awareness programme organised at P.B. Siddhartha College on Friday, Mr. Ravi Krishna said that, according to studies by some international organisations, terrorist groups were targeting youth to jeopardize the future of the country.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) shared an example of a girl student from an engineering college who was arrested by Visakhapatnam police for peddling MDMA and is currently serving her sentence. “In another case, I met a B.Tech student in Visakhapatnam Central Prison, who was jailed for 10 years along with four friends for smuggling ganja (cannabis) in a car. Unaware that one of his friends was transporting ganja, the student unknowingly got trapped and ruined his life,” Mr. Ravi Krishna said.

Highlighting the consequences of the NDPS Act, he noted that many students, unaware of the legal implications, fall into addiction and end up in jail. He cautioned youth to stay away from drugs and ganja. “If you have information about drug peddlers or consumers operating in or around educational institutions, or via social media groups, please alert EAGLE by sending a message on WhatsApp at 8977781972 or 1972,” Mr. Ravi Krishna added.

The programme saw participation from EAGLE officers, Siddhartha College staff, and students.
