East Singhbhum Administration Hosts Workshop for Polling Officials Ahead of Ghatshila Bypoll

Jamshedpur: A two-day workshop, organized by the East Singhbhum administration to train the polling parties ahead of the upcoming bypoll to the Ghatshila (ST) seat, concluded here on Friday.Held at the Jamshedpur Women’s University (JWU) auditorium in Sidhgora, the workshop gave hands-on training to the presiding and polling officials on handling of EVMs and VVPATs, conducting mock polls, sealing and packing of the units among others.A special session was dedicated to make the polling officials learn how not to do the common errors on the voting day.“Mistakes in filling the form, negligence in machine handling, ignorance in registering the serial number while sealing the machines are the common errors of the polling officials which needs to be averted,” said the expert trainers and senior electoral officials to the attending polling parties.“There is no room for mistakes and errors. We have to ensure that voting is conducted properly and in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission (EC),” said district election officer (DEO) Karn Satyarthi in address to the polling parties at the concluding day on Friday.Satyarthi said 390 ballot units (BUs), 390 control units (CUs) and 420 VVPATs have been allotted for the 300 polling centres.
