ED raids 16 location in Uttar Pradesh linked to fake degree racket

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday (November 6, 2025) conducted raids at 16 locations in Uttar Pradesh, including Monad University in Hapur and Saraswati Medical College in Unnao, as part of a money laundering probe linked to a fake degree racket.

“ED Lucknow Zone is conducting a search operation in the case related to the fake degree racket of Monad University, situated at Hapur, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. The main accused, Vijendra Singh/Hooda, is currently in jail. He is a politically exposed person who had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha election from Bijnor on BSP ticket. [Got 3rd position with 2.18 lakh votes],” reads an official statement.

The ED said overall 16 premises were covered in the raid linked to accused persons.

“In this operation, 16 premises have been covered, including the main premises of the University and another key location — Saraswati Medical college, Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. The remaining premises are associated with the accused persons in this case, most of whom have already been arrested by the police and charge-sheeted,” added the statement.
